Export and Overseas Investment Forum While Thailand has long benefited from its receipt of inward foreign direct investment, Thai companies have not shied away from making investments overseas as well. This investment has been especially strong within Thailand's closest neighbors in the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS), namely Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. Thailand: the world leader in HDD production In 1985 there were 60 hard disk drive manufacturers in the world; a number that has been vastly reduced through industry wide consolidation. Two decades later and the field has significantly narrowed to a handful of players. By late 2005 Thailand had achieved the distinction of becoming the world's largest manufacturer of hard disk drives, surpassing Singapore for the first time in this high tech assembly and by 2007 was producing nearly half of the world's HDDs. FUJITSU: An industry leader If you own a laptop computer, there is a good chance that all of your files, photos, songs and movies are being stored on one of Fujitsu (Thailand)'s hard disk drives (HDD). From its factory situated on 71 rai of land at the Navanakorn Industrial Estate in Pathumthani, just north of Bangkok, Fujitsu has been manufacturing HDD products for close to 20 years. Read more...

Thailand, NECTEC and the HDD Success Story From its humble beginnings less than 25 years ago, Thailand's hard disk drive (HDD) industry has grown into a powerhouse that now accounts for around half of worldwide production in HDDs and components.
