BOI Secretary General Prepares for the Future
Secretary General Udom Wongviwatchai recently spoke with Thailand Investment Review about his experience before coming to BOI and about current and future issues for the Thailand Board of Investment. Prior to his appointment as the BOI's new secretary general, Khun Wongviwatchai spent several years in various positions at the Offi ce of Industrial Economics, or OIE, and at the Thailand International Standards Institute, TISI, where he took care of granting industrial licenses in the provincial regions of Thailand.

Thailand Economic Monitor
The World Bank has released its latest Thailand Economic Monitor, noting that the economy has rebounded from the severe floods but that it continues to be affected by the slowdown in the global economy. The World Bank looks for 2012 GDP growth in Thailand at 4.7 percent, with inflation steady at 3 percent.

BOI Policy Seminar
The Thailand Board of Investment has begun public hearings on its proposed changes to investment promotion policy, kicking off a series of five such hearings on 14 January at the Queen Sirikit Convention Center before a crowd of several hundreds.
