12 May 2023 - Mr. Narit Therdsteerasukdi, Secretary General of the Thailand Board of Investment together with Mr. Narucha Ruchuphan, BOI Senior Executive Investment Advisor, and Ms. Sudakorn Devakula Na Ayudhya, BOI Executive Director, Investment Services Center, took a group of Thai reporters to visit Mercedes-Benz Company Manufacturing (Thailand) Co., Ltd., as well as Thonburi Automobile Assembly Co., Ltd. and Thonburi Energy Storage Manufacturing Co., Ltd., which are important local partners of the German company in the production of electric vehicles.

Mercedes-Benz, which has been an investor in Thailand for decades has invested in the local production of complete electric cars for sale in Thailand and has been granted promotion privileges by the BOI to produce Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) and Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV). Mercedes-Benz appointed Thonburi Energy Storage Manufacturing Co., Ltd. to manufacture BEVs in Thailand, also one of the only seven countries around the world where Mercedes-Benz produces batteries for EV.
