16 October 2024 - Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) Secretary General Narit Therdsteerasukdi attended the launch of the first production line at the smart factory Welltek Electronics, a leading Chinese manufacturer of PCBs (printed circuit boards), has established in Ayutthaya Province, where he was welcomed by the company’s Chairman Ms. Jennifer Deng. The factory, in which the company has invested over 2.5 billion baht for the first phase, was completed in less than a year. With a staff of over 500, the factory will mainly produce multi-layer PCBs used in advanced electronic devices. Welltek is already preparing to expand the factory in a second phase which will be larger than the first.

Thailand has recently seen a new surge in investment in PCB manufacturing. From the start of 2023 to September 2024, companies in the PCB sector have filed a total of 95 applications for investment promotion, including both extensions and greenfield projects, representing a total investment value of 162 billion baht.
