16 September 2024 - Mr. Narit Therdsteerasukdi, Secretary General of the BOI, was assigned by Deputy Prime Minister Pichai Chunhavajira to represent Thailand at the ASEAN Economic Ministers’ (AEM) – 27th ASEAN Investment Area (AIA) Council Meeting, in Vientiane, Laos. The meeting focused on reviewing and modernizing the ASEAN Comprehensive Investment Agreement (ACIA) to boost investor confidence. Discussions also covered sustainable investment practices, a regional investment promotion plan, and a presentation of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development’s (UNCTAD) report on "ASEAN Economic Community and Foreign Direct Investment". The Secretary General also held a meeting with Thai entrepreneurs in Laos to discuss new business opportunities, during which he highlighted ASEAN's vision for green energy and sustainable investments.
